Quote: Buck and Eddie (9-1-1 season 8)

Buck: And, well, I, uh, I might want to adopt another pet down the line.

Eddie: Yeah, well, you did really bond with that dog in about ten seconds.

Buck: It's kind of what I do.

Eddie: Hey, man, I'm sorry you had to give him back.

Buck: Oh, no. Hey, I'm not. Listen, w-when Blaze jumped into her arms, I wasn't sad. I was happy. 'Cause he was going back to where he belongs. And that's why I'm happy for you. 'Cause you're going back to where you belong. With Christopher.

~ Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 9: Sob Stories

During this scene, you could tell how much Eddie was genuinely surprised that Buck was willing to give up his apartment to lease Eddie's home so that Eddie could move back to El Paso to be with his son Christopher. At that moment, Eddie realized that he truly had someone special that understood him. Buck understood that Eddie needed to be with his son, it might have taken Buck some time to realize that later on. Because earlier in the episode, he was being a total jerk purposely ruining Eddie's attempts to lease his home.

Eddie was already stressed because he was moving but he still had to deal with his living situation and Buck wasn't helping matters at all. I posted this quote because I guess Buck seeing a little girl happily reunite with her lost dog finally clued him in. Eddie wasn't leaving him just to leave, he was going to be with his son. And in Buck finally realizing that, he made the grand gesture to lease Eddie's home. You could really tell how much that meant to Eddie. And not to mention, Eddie was holding back tears especially after Buck told him he was going to be taking over Eddie's lease.

Most Memorable Scene: Eddie and Chris having a heartfelt talk (9-1-1 season 8)

I always wished that back in the second half of 9-1-1's eighth season, the first conversation Eddie had with Chris after Eddie moved back to El Paso, TX was shown. Because I'm sure it was a bit awkward between them. Especially since the last time they were in the same room, Chris was leaving with his grandparents to go back to El Paso. Even though they had video calls but it's not the same feeling as being in the same room together. I did like this talk between them in the episode Disconnected (season 8 episode 12), the conversation had Eddie admitting that he made a mistake lying to his son about his job.

Earlier in the episode, Eddie had interviewed for a firefighter position at an El Paso fire station, however the job fell through. But he needed money (especially after he used up almost all his savings relocating back to El Paso) so he ended up taking a job as a ride share driver. However, he didn't tell Chris about this new job which of course led to Chris finding out when him and his friend called for a ride and his dad ended up being the driver. That had to be awkward ride especially with the two of them pretending not to know each other.

Which led to this scene below with Chris going over to his father's new old house and they had a small yet heartfelt conversation. Okay, side note, why did the writers have Eddie buy not only a house but a total fixer upper at that. They could have had Eddie rent a house because now that him and Chris are back in Los Angeles, what happened to his El Paso house? Did he put it up for sell? And if so, did it sell? Or is he still waiting for a buyer? Or did he rent it? And ask his parents to keep an eye on the place or perhaps manage it so Eddie could have some secondary income. Eddie put in a lot of work refurbishing that house which is why I would love to know what he actually did with the place (that's if the writers will ever bring it up again).

Anyway, back to this scene, you can tell how much guilt Eddie places on himself. Because despite enjoying his job (especially when he was starting to make a lot more money) he still couldn't tell Chris about it. I wonder if Eddie told Chris the truth about trading in his beloved pick up truck for a more smaller and affordable car. But that's the thing Chris isn't a little kid anymore, so despite his father not telling him the truth, he understood the reason for the job and most likely the change in vehicle. Which is why Chris said "Because you need to save your money if you're gonna stick around", he wasn't embarrassed that Eddie was a ride share driver he just wanted his dad to tell him the truth. Eddie truly just wanted his son to be proud of him which Chris is and told him that. I love how this conversation ended with them sharing a hug and saying I love you. That's so sweet. I was just so happy they sorted this all out.

Quote: Maddie and Buck (9-1-1 season 8)

Maddie: You know, eventually you are gonna have to sleep in your new place.

Buck: Uh... Yeah, you know, I-I think that might be the issue. It doesn't feel like my new place. It feels like Eddie's old one, which is proving to be trickier than I expected. Everywhere I look is just one big reminder that my best friend is gone. And it... it sucks.

~ Maddie Han (née Buckley) and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 11: Holy Mother of God

Looking at this quote, I always thought Buck's response to his big sister Maddie felt like to me as if he was pinning for his best friend Eddie. Because I get feeling sad your best friend has moved away but Buck was having trouble sleeping after taking over the lease to Eddie's place. I believe for three nights in a row, he was sleeping over at this sister and brother-in-law's house because he couldn't sleep at his new place. See this doesn't feel like a typical platonic response to your best friend leaving, it feels more like Buck was trying to deal with his unrealized romantic feelings for Eddie.

Everything Buck was doing in this episode felt like a big distraction. He was trying his best to get over his unrealized romantic feelings he has for Eddie instead of actually taking the time to understand what he was truly feeling. Maybe one day he will but for now he just think this was all a normal reaction to Eddie leaving.

I really like this behind the scenes picture of Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman from the 9-1-1 episode Wannabes (season 8 episode 8). They are resting on the cars while on a break from filming their scenes. I know being an actor is glamorized but it's still a job. Anyway, I really like this picture because you get an interesting look at the behind the scenes stuff.

Quote: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1 season 8)

Eddie: Thanks for helping me finish packing. Chris is gonna be psyched you found his favorite shirt. He's been looking for it ever since he got to El Paso.

Buck: Well, you make sure he knows I'm the one who found it.

Eddie: Right. Credit where credit's due. Thanks for helping me get back to him.

Buck: Uh, yeah, of course. Don't sweat it.

Eddie: I know this whole thing between us has been messy and hard, and both of us could have handled it a little bit better. But I hope you know, you do matter to me.

Buck: I know.

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 10: Voices

It's always interesting how the writers for 9-1-1 choose to write the dialogue for Buck and Eddie because this scene conveys so much more than friendship. For these two, there is always this underlying sense of romance but they are not ready to deal with that just yet. So instead they just share meaningful looks and smiles. I hope one day the writers will actually let them explore their feelings and realize that they are more than just friendship.

Video: Buck's surprise sitcom reveal of Eddie in the 9-1-1 episode The Last Alarm

This video is why I love fans because of this fan edit by Sofia (offscreeneddie) is fantastic. The video is an edit for a scene from the 9-1-1 episode The Last Alarm (season 8 episode 16). According to Sofia, this video was "based on a text post I saw about Eddie being reintroduced like they were on a sitcom with a live audience".

It's true because when I saw that scene it felt like Eddie's appearance was showcased as if he was a surprise guest star on a sitcom. With the audience clapping and cheering for this reveal. I think Sofia did a really good job with this. Because not only where the clapping and cheering added in but also the laughs for Ravi's comment and joke about not being a probie anymore to the sad aws when Eddie said "he should have been there". And not to mention the little dramatic music at the end when Buck spoke to Eddie and they shared a quick look.

This really is a good edit that does feel like a scene from a sitcom.

Most Memorable Scene: Eddie talking to Chris at the Chess Tournament

I love this scene of Eddie going to his son Christopher's chess tournament in the 9-1-1 episode Invisible (season 8 episode 13). Because prior to that, wanting to go to the tournament was on his mind. However, he didn't think he should go after talking to his mother Helena in the grocery store parking lot. And not to mention his mom and his dad Ramon have pushed Eddie to the sidelines making him feel like he's an observer or outsider to raising his own son. And because Eddie was still holding on to that guilt (about the Kim situation which still hasn't been dealt with) he didn't think he should fight for his son. Especially since he thought or believed Chris was thriving and doing really well with his grandparents.

Which is why I'm glad Eddie did go to the chess tournament because he found out the truth. Although Eddie believed his son was doing really well with his grandparents, he found out how stressed Chris was over playing chess and that he didn't like playing it. But what makes the situation so sad is that Chris went along with playing chess despite not enjoy playing it. All so he wouldn't disappoint his grandparents. They made him feel like he couldn't go to them and tell them he didn't like chess. I'm so happy that Eddie went because he would have continued to believe that his son was doing better without him which is so not the truth.

Now that Eddie and Chris have reconciled and Chris will be moving back in with Eddie, I hope this El Paso storyline will finally start to be wrapped up. I can't believe the Showrunner and writers thought it was a good idea to isolate Eddie by keeping him in Texas which resulted in him not being there for the big contagion emergency. Especially since Eddie is a former military medic who is familiar with contagions. I don't know, the show and the 118 feels so off when any of the member of the team is not there and most especially during a big emergency like this. Anyway, I'm happy Eddie and Chris have made up and hopefully will be figuring out a way to move back to Los Angeles.

Photo: Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman (9-1-1 season 8 behind the scenes)

I know this is just a screen shot of actors Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman from a behind the scenes video for the 9-1-1 episode No Place Like Home (season 8 episode 4). But why does this look like the set up for a prank? Like the classic shaving cream in the face prank. Or to keep it in character, Buck taking a picture or filming Eddie after he fell asleep during their lunch break or during some down time. And possibly also pulling a prank on him.

This is just a funny picture.

Did Eddie use the Legally Blonde "Bend and Snap" on Buck in the 9-1-1 episode Voices?

As soon as I saw this scene from the 9-1-1 episode Voices (season 8 episode 10) of Eddie awkwardly bending down to close the U-Haul trailer, it immediately made me think of the renowned Bend and Snap scene from the Legally Blonde movie. In the movie, Elle Woods was teaching Paulette Bonafonté that flirty move so that Paulette could use it later to attract her crush, Kyle the delivery driver.

So, is it just a random coincidence or is Eddie's using a slightly modified version of the Bend and Snap to subconsciously attract Buck. But since Eddie's still not aware or clueless of his romantic feelings for Buck, he did the move slightly incorrect as in bending in the opposite direction. Anyway, I'm sure it still left a lasting impression on Buck before Eddie left to move back to El Paso, Texas. According to this quote from Elle, "In my experience, it has a 98% success rate of getting a man's attention, and when used appropriately, it has an 83% rate of return on a dinner invitation." Which means the move is rather effective and not to be forgotten is the quote from the guy working at the salon The Bend and Snap, works every time!

I guess we'll see if Eddie's Bend and Snap worked on Buck especially if Buck continues to think of Eddie. And hopefully this will lead to them eventually getting together once Eddie and his son Christopher return to Los Angeles.

Buck saying "It's Me", is that foreshadowing?

In the 9-1-1 episode Sob Stories (season 8 episode 9), why does Buck saying "It's me" to Eddie feel like forshadowing. And not to mention Eddie's shock and suprise reaction afterwards. I know this conversation was about Buck telling Eddie he's renting his house but the "It's me" just felt like such a loud statement. The writers could have used a different choice of words but instead went with "It's me".

I really hope it's foreshadowing because these two are perfect for each other. None of the random love interests they have throughout the series had ever felt like they were right for them. Which is why I will continue to hope that Buck and Eddie will eventually end up together. I also hope it won't take too long for Eddie and his son Christopher to return to Los Angeles.

Video: Ryan Guzman jumping over stuff (9-1-1 season 8 behind the scenes)

I love when there are goofy or silly behind the scenes stuff like this vidoe of Ryan Guzman jumping over random things. There wasn't much danger from jumping over the side walk entrance, however the hedge, he could have ended up tumbling over and face planting on the side walk. He's lucky he was able to soar over that hedge. I love how Peter Krause was filming it while Oliver Stark was back there laughing. Since this is Kenneth Choi's video, I would have loved to have seen his reaction after Ryan's final jump.

Buck and Eddie Fandom Thoughts #6: Why are they always staring at each other?

What are these looks that Eddie and Buck are giving each other in this scene from the 9-1-1 episode Masks (season 8 episode 5)? These are some pretty interesting and intense looks between them. I always wonder why they are always staring at each other? Why do they always look at each other as if they are the only ones in the room. When at most times, they are not.

Even in the scene below in Masks, they were not the only two in the hospital room. Buck's then boyfriend was also in the room with them. However, they are just so captivated with each other. Buck looking over at Eddie for reassurance and understanding while Eddie is staring at him as if Buck is the most fascinating person in the world. Even if Eddie did end up laughing at him after this look but it was with love.

I continue to find Buck and Eddie staring or looking at each other to be interesting. Because they look at each other like lovers do. And if they are just friends then why so many intense and longing looks? Hen and Chimney are also best friends but they never look at each other in that way. However, they do look at their significant other's (Karen and Maddie) that way. It just makes you wonder why Eddie and Buck are always staring at each other.

Quote: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1 season 8 episode: Wannabes)

Eddie: I have this virtual appointment with a real estate agent in a few minutes, to get the ball rolling.

Buck: Hence the button-down.

Eddie: Hence the button-down.

Buck: Well...We should move this party to the couch.

Eddie: We?

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 8: Wannabes

I found it so interesting in the 9-1-1 episode Wannabes (season 8 episode 8) that Eddie was nervous to tell Buck that he was looking at houses in El Paso, TX. And that he had a virtual appointment with a realtor. And for a second, he wasn't quite sure how Buck would react but he surprised him by immediately being supportive. Perhaps too supportive because in the full scene (if I can find it, I'll post it), Buck's smile dropped while Eddie was in the kitchen getting coffee. Because the realization is that Eddie will be leaving and he will no longer have one of the most important people in his life there anymore. Meanwhile, Eddie realized with Buck's willingness to help in his house search, he wasn't alone. He truly had a partner that had his back no matter the situation.

I just wish these two will finally understand their feelings for each other. Because although they are best friends, they are so much more than that. I'm still hoping that they will eventually go canon.

Fandom Thoughts: Which episodes of 9-1-1's eighth season has been your favorite?

With the first half of the eighth season of 9-1-1 over, I was wondering which of the eight episodes has been your favorite? I'll say that so far, this hasn't been a bad season. But during this hiatus, I'm going to re-watch these episodes. Because I can't really answer this question at the moment because some episodes I probably didn't pay as much attention to. So, after I re-watch the first half of the season, I'll re-post this question with my answers.

- Buzzkill (episode 1)

- When the Boeing Gets Tough (episode 2)

- Final Approach (episode 3)

- No Place Like Home (episode 4)

- Masks (episode 5)

- Confessions (episode 6)

- Hotshots (episode 7)

- Wannabes (episode 8)

This is such a lovely picture of Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman that Peter Krause captured of his co-workers behind the scenes of the 9-1-1 mid-season finale episode Wannabes (season 8 episode 8). This really is a good picture that Peter took, I just love how happy they look.

Throughout most of the first half of the eighth season, Oliver had been posting behind the scenes pictures on his Instagram account. I think the pictures give fans a nice little glimpse into the show as well as being good photography.

Buck and Eddie Fandom Thoughts #5: Was this Buck's moment of realization? (9-1-1)

When I saw this scene in last night's 9-1-1 episode Wannabes (season 8 episode 8), all I could think about was this Buck's moment of realization about Eddie? Maybe it's not quite the realization that he's in love with Eddie (just yet). But perhaps that Eddie mean something to him that he just hasn't realized yet or can't explain. Especially with the possibility of Eddie moving back to El Paso, TX (yeah, I have some thoughts on that as well).

I can't wait until Buck finally realizes he's in love with Eddie that is going to completely change his outlook on life that's for sure.

Video: Eddie doing the "Risky Business" dance (9-1-1)

Okay, this video of Eddie doing the Risky Business dance by Maximu is so amazing. I can only imagine the amount of work that must have went into noy only drawning all the pictures but then animating it. But it all resulted into something truly wonderful.

Fandom Thoughts: Buck and Eddie #4: Buck, Eddie and Beer (9-1-1)

Whether Buck and Eddie are sitting down having a heart-to-heart of deep poignant conversations about being there for each other, Buck not knowing his sister Maddie the way the Chimney might know her or Buck's coming out to Eddie. Or fun humorous ones like Eddie and Buck talking about potential powers Buck may have got from being struck by lighting. No matter the conversation, beer seems to be their choice of drink. With the way their story is going, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a beer during their first date.

Photo: Ryan Guzman (9-1-1 season 8 behind the scenes)

At some point, I want to compile all the pictures that Oliver Stark has taken of Ryan Guzman behind the scenes of 9-1-1. This latest picture is behind the scene from the episode Confessions (season 8 episode 6) during the scene when Eddie was shaving off his moustache. I think this is a really amazing and interesting picture, there's a real intimacy to it. As well as within the scene, because that's when Eddie finally allowed himself to be happy. And shaving off his moustache symbolized that.

Quote: Buck and Eddie (9-1-1 season 8)

Buck: It's okay, you can say it.

Eddie: It's not bad. It's not that bad.

A few seconds later:

Buck: Okay. If you say so.

Eddie: I do. Five bucks it'll clear up by the time we're on shift.

~ Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 5: Masks

I just love that Buck trusted that Eddie knew what he was talking about in regards to his boil situation. Although it turned out that Buck's skin didn't clear up by the time of his next shift at work, at least he won five dollars. I'm sure if Eddie knew Buck had taken Ibuprofen the night before, I think he would have pointed out the medicine as being the cause for the boils due to Buck being allergic to Naproxen.
