Looking at this quote, I always thought Buck's response to his big sister Maddie felt like to me as if he was pinning for his best friend Eddie. Because I get feeling sad your best friend has moved away but Buck was having trouble sleeping after taking over the lease to Eddie's place. I believe for three nights in a row, he was sleeping over at this sister and brother-in-law's house because he couldn't sleep at his new place. See this doesn't feel like a typical platonic response to your best friend leaving, it feels more like Buck was trying to deal with his unrealized romantic feelings for Eddie.
Everything Buck was doing in this episode felt like a big distraction. He was trying his best to get over his unrealized romantic feelings he has for Eddie instead of actually taking the time to understand what he was truly feeling. Maybe one day he will but for now he just think this was all a normal reaction to Eddie leaving.
