Quote: Buck and Eddie (9-1-1 season 8)

Buck: And, well, I, uh, I might want to adopt another pet down the line.

Eddie: Yeah, well, you did really bond with that dog in about ten seconds.

Buck: It's kind of what I do.

Eddie: Hey, man, I'm sorry you had to give him back.

Buck: Oh, no. Hey, I'm not. Listen, w-when Blaze jumped into her arms, I wasn't sad. I was happy. 'Cause he was going back to where he belongs. And that's why I'm happy for you. 'Cause you're going back to where you belong. With Christopher.

~ Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, 9-1-1 season 8 episode 9: Sob Stories

During this scene, you could tell how much Eddie was genuinely surprised that Buck was willing to give up his apartment to lease Eddie's home so that Eddie could move back to El Paso to be with his son Christopher. At that moment, Eddie realized that he truly had someone special that understood him. Buck understood that Eddie needed to be with is son, it might have taken Buck some time to realize that later on. Because earlier in the episode, he was being a total jerk purposely ruining Eddie's attempts to lease his home.

Eddie was already stressed because he was moving but he still had to deal with his living situation and Buck wasn't helping matters at all. I posted this quote because I guess Buck seeing a little girl happily reunite with her lost dog finally clued him in. Eddie wasn't leaving him just to leave, he was going to be with his son. And in Buck finally realizing that, he made the grand gesture to lease Eddie's home. You could really tell how much that meant to Eddie. And not to mention, Eddie was holding back tears especially after Buck told him he was going to be taking over Eddie's lease.
