Quote: Buck and Eddie (9-1-1 season 3)

Eddie: Get up.

Buck: Why, man? Come on.

Eddie: Because it's morning and you have things to do.

Buck: No, I really don't.

Eddie: You need to get out of this house and take a walk around the block and get some fresh air.

Buck: Why? What's the point?

Eddie: Well, the point is, your life isn't over just because you're not a firefighter.

Buck: Says the firefighter.

Eddie: You know, that blood clot could've almost killed you. But it didn't. You have your whole life ahead of you, so why don't you just take it as a win and stop feeling sorry for yourself?

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 3 episode 1: Kids Today

I love this scene from the 9-1-1 episode Kids Today, because after Buck had quit his job (due to medical reasons and some unknowingly misguided interference by Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash), he had been down and depressed and hiding away in his apartment. So Eddie went over to see Buck to give him some much needed good advice and motivation. It's understandable why Buck was wallowing because up until that point, his whole life and identity was being a firefighter. So after he quit, he didn't know what to do with his life. Which is why I love what Eddie said "Why don't you just take it as a win and stop feeling sorry for yourself." Buck could have died from those multiple blood clots but he didn't.

Eddie was concerned and wanted to help get Buck to see that his life was more than just a job. And to add to the good advice, he left his pride and joy, his son Christopher with Buck to help lift his spirits and to get him out of his dreary existence and his apartment. Yeah, what happened after with Buck and Chris being caught in a tsunami wasn't great but Buck did learn a valuable lesson about life and overcoming difficult moments.

Merry Christmas!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakkah and Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone's day is just as happy as the Buckley Diaz family celebrating the holiday in the 9-1-1 episode Christmas Spirit (season 3 episode 10).

Merry Christmas to all my Buck and Eddie and Buckley Diaz family fans!

Fandom Thoughts: Buck and Eddie #4: Buck, Eddie and Beer (9-1-1)

Whether Buck and Eddie are sitting down having a heart-to-heart of deep poignant conversations about being there for each other, Buck not knowing his sister Maddie the way the Chimney might know her or Buck's coming out to Eddie. Or fun humorous ones like Eddie and Buck talking about potential powers Buck may have got from being struck by lighting. No matter the conversation, beer seems to be their choice of drink. With the way their story is going, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a beer during their first date.

Quote: Robert Nash, Evan Buckley and Edmundo Diaz (9-1-1)

Bobby: So Fire Marshal Buck decides to drop off his report in person. Is that a sign of maturity? Or is it just revenge for all the times I've written you up?

Buck: Actually, uh, you passed. I bumped up the numbers, got fancy with the math.

Eddie: You don't know math.

Buck: Which will be my excuse if anybody calls me out on it.

Most Memorable Scene: Eddie and Chris go to Buck's apartment after the Tsunami

I just love this scene of Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz from the 9-1-1 episode The Searchers (season 3 episode 3). During the tsunami story, Buck did everything he could to keep Eddie's son Christopher safe. Unfortunately, Christopher and Buck got separated after the water started to recede and Chris fell in the water. Buck searched for Chris but the only thing he found was the boy's glasses. So when Buck eventually ran into Eddie at the hospital, he had the difficult task of telling Eddie that Christopher was missing. It weigh heavily on them that Chris was possibly dead. But thankfully, a lady, who was carrying Christopher, had arrived at the hospital and he was quickly reunited with Eddie.

That's another good moment, I'll post it another time. Anyway, the point is that after all of that, Buck was feeling down and blamed himself for losing Chris. It's easy think that Eddie would have been mad but he wasn't. He understood that what Chris and Buck went through was out of their control. Eddie even tried to add a little humor to the moment. However, seeing how Buck was sad and continuing to wallow in self-pity, Eddie became serious. He totally reassured Buck about everything from keeping Chris safe to how Eddie wholeheartedly and completely trust his son with Buck. In fact, he stated "There's nobody in this world, I trust with my son more than you." That is such a definitive declaration, for sure. I do love that Eddie got in one last joke before he left. It totally lightened up the mood.

This was just such a really good scene. It was very memorable.

Quote: Evan Buckley and Old Man (9-1-1)

Old Man: Did you get her? Please, tell me.

Buck: I got her. I got Gladys. She is okay.

Old Man: Oh. That's not Gladys. That's Hoover. Oh, thank God.

Buck: Hoover?

Old Man: But where's Gladys?

Quote: Christopher and Edmundo Diaz, Carla Price and Evan Buckley (9-1-1)

Christopher: Dad!

Eddie: Hey, guys.

Carla: Five-alarm school emergency. He's supposed to tell Ms. Flores today what he's presenting for show and tell on Friday.

Eddie: And so he suckered you into stopping here on the way.

Carla: You know I can't resist a cute face.

Eddie: Okay. Show and tell. I thought you were bringing in your new hamster.

Carla: Oh, the new hamster is old news. Somebody's been snooping in your closet.

Buck: Is that what I think it is?

Christopher: It's a silver star 'cause my dad's a hero.

Carla: We don't need jewelry to know that.

Buck: Do you ever just wear it?

Eddie: Never found an outfit to go with it.

Buck: Ooh, if I had a medal, I would never take it off.

Eddie: We know.

Art of the Day: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1)

Artwork: Hug by Laura Ktori

This is amazing artwork. I'm glad this hug in the third season episode Monsters didn't turn out to be the last hug between Buck and Eddie. It may have been four seasons later but they finally got another hug in this current seventh season.

Buck and Eddie: Breaking Up and They Haven't Even Dated

It's been noted by a lot of us 9-1-1 fans how much the writers like to use romantic or relationship coded language for Eddie and Buck scenes. For instance, why in both of these scenes from episodes Rage (season 3 episode 5) and Outside Looking In (season 5 episode 11) does it feel like these conversations are after they broke up. It's just so funny because they have had two post break up conversations and they have yet to date or be in a relationship.

In Rage, they were both angry due to the lawsuit Buck had filed which made it so that neither one could have contact with each other. While in Outside Looking In, it was more like a quiet resignation or acceptance that what they had was over. It really makes me wonder why would the writers give them these words? And why would they have the actors react in this way for these scenes? Everything about these scenes holds a lot of subtext that's for sure. If these two are supposed to be only friends then why use this type of break up language for them?
