Quote: Buck and Eddie (9-1-1 season 7)

Buck: Okay, so what do you want?

Eddie: I... don't know.

Buck: Does this poor woman know that she is a carbon copy of your dead wife?

Eddie: Hasn't really come up.

Buck: I'm worried about you.

Eddie: Yeah. I'm worried about me, too.

~ Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, 9-1-1 season 7 episode 9: Ashes, Ashes

gif Source: rachelazegler

I can kind of see what the Showrunner and writers were attempting to do with this Shannon Diaz lookalike/doppelganger storyline but they failed with the execution. And then didn't follow through with Eddie having an actual conversation with his son Christopher about how Shannon's death is still affecting him. And how seeing Kim, Shannon's lookalike had him spending time with Kim because she reminded him of Shannon. Instead, they had Christopher get angry (although he did misinterpret the situation when he saw Eddie with Kim) and leave with his grandparents to go to El Paso, Texas. This storyline dragged on for most of the eighth season with Eddie and Chris finally reconciling. However, they still never dealt with what caused them to fracture their relationship.

As I mentioned, I can see what they were trying to do with this story by trying to add in some drama. But it was unnecessary and it didn't work and only resulted in dragging down both Eddie and Chris' storyline for the eighth season. Total side note, I love how concerned Buck was for Eddie in this scene. After Buck saw Kim and talked to her, he immediately went over to see Eddie and to find out what was going on. I just love how concerned he was for him.

Anyway, I hope the storylines for this upcoming ninth season will be so much better.

Art of the Day: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1)

Artwork: Bachelor Party Buddie by Harri (harrirats)

I love this artwork. Because what really happened between Buck and Eddie at that bachelor party that Buck threw for Chimney? There are several ongoing fan theories as to what happend. I guess only Buck and Eddie know but something definitely happened. Perhaps they drank a little too much and they don't remember which would have been an interesting storyline. Too bad the Showrunner and writers just didn't seem to want to answer the unspoken question. Anyway, this artwork is very lovely and goes oh so perfectly with all the fan theories.

As a way to support artists, I try to post links to their stores if they have one. You can not only buy this artwork but also other art from the artist at: Harri.

Video: Buck and Eddie playing Basketball (9-1-1)

I just love how happy Eddie was, in this short clip, that Buck had finally joined him in playing basketball in the episode Buck, Bothered and Bewildered (season 7 episode 4). I'm sure he's been wanting that to happen for a while. Too bad for Eddie that Buck only went because he was jealous and then ended up hurting Eddie. I really wish the writers had shown Buck appologizing to Eddie for body checking him and causing Eddie to sprain his ankle. Instead it was left off screen. That's one thing that annoys me about watching 9-1-1, the Showrunner and writers leave so many important scenes off screen.

I hope at some point later on that Buck and Eddie will be shown playing basketball again but this time no one is jealous and no one gets hurt. They are simply having a fun time playing basketball together.

Most Memorable Scene: Buck and Eddie sniffing glue (9-1-1)

A scene that always makes me question Buck and Eddie's intelligence is the scene from the episode Buck, Bothered and Bewildered (season 7 episode 4) when they are both sniffing glue. It was glue (which was industrial-grade strength) that a fan of The Bachelor TV series used to glue herself to the driveway of the mansion.

Buck and Eddie are both very smart but in this instance, all I can think of is, why are they sniffing glue? I can just imagine the fumes that stuff must be giving off but they both for some reason decided to smell it. It's just mind-boggling, isn't it? They are just two peas in an adorable pod making ridiculous choices.

Fandom Thoughts: Buck and Eddie #4: Buck, Eddie and Beer (9-1-1)

Whether Buck and Eddie are sitting down having a heart-to-heart of deep poignant conversations about being there for each other, Buck not knowing his sister Maddie the way the Chimney might know her or Buck's coming out to Eddie. Or fun humorous ones like Eddie and Buck talking about potential powers Buck may have got from being struck by lighting. No matter the conversation, beer seems to be their choice of drink. With the way their story is going, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a beer during their first date.

Most Memorable Scene: Eddie trying to be modest (9-1-1)

I still can't get over Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz in the episode There Goes the Groom (season 7 episode 6). It's so funny, because not only did Eddie and Evan "Buck" Buckley show up late to Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han's wedding but they looked absolutely awful. And what I can't get over is how Eddie tried his best to cover up. It was after he realized when him and Buck were talking with Maddie that he didn't have a shirt on. How are you just now realizing that? He really tried to close his jacket but that just didn't work. You're totally shirtless and no amount of trying to cover up is going to change that.

Quote: Evan Buckley (+ My thoughts on his love life)

(9-1-1 season 7 episode 1: Abandon Ships)

We, uh, we broke up. I don't know why I thought it was such a great idea, dating a Death Doula.

~ Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 7 episode 1: Abandon Ships

When I look back at Evan "Buck" Buckley and Natalia Dollenmeyer's relationship the only thing they really connected over was death. With Natalia being a Death Doula, dealing with and understanding death was a big part of her career and life. After Buck's experience with death, after being brought back to life from dying when he was struck by lightning, I can see why he was interested in Natalia and wanted to get to know her.

I found it interesting that once she saw that his life wasn't just about his death and resurrection from it, she couldn't seem to handle or understand it. However, Buck and Natalia did further their relationship (rather quickly) at the end of the sixth season finale episode Pay It Forward. He was even asking her to help him pick out a couch (which was a metaphor for his love life). It seemed like it was the start of a new relationship for Buck but in the end there wasn't anything there for them to try to build a relationship on. Because their only connection was death.

Their relationship ended because Natalia was focused on death while Buck was no long interested in it. He was ready to start living his life as opposed to dwelling on his death. Again, death was the only thing that connected them. They met at a living funeral for one of Natalia's clients which lead to them connecting. However, it was easy to see that her only interest in was him was his brush with death. Which at the time wasn't an issue for Buck but it must have been a breaking point for him later on. Hence, the break up.

It's interesting that Buck continuously jumps into relationships especially after his love interests rejects him in some way and then they later return. Then he goes full force speeding through connections and trying to build a relationship with someone who only seems interested in him in a shallow way. This same pattern continued in the seventh season with him meeting Tommy Kinard and quickly jumping into seeing him after Tommy initially rejected him after their first date. So, I'm hoping in the upcoming eighth season, that Buck will end his current relationship and take some time figuring out what he is truly looking for in a relationship. And stop settling for people who only want him for shallow reasons.

Photo: Ryan Guzman (9-1-1 season 7 behind the scenes)

This is a really amazing picture of actor Ryan Guzman that was taken by his co-star Oliver Stark. This looks like a cross between a photo shoot and a candid shot. Since, Ryan and Oliver seem to be fans of photography, it would be interesting if they did photo shoots of each other. And maybe even make it something for charity where they sold the pictures to raise money for their favorite charities. I don't know, I'm just putting it out into the universe, maybe something like this will happen one day.

Quote: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1)

Eddie: Hey.

Buck: Uh, hey. Did you hear from Chris yet?

Eddie: Not yet. My mom sent me some pictures. They took him to the lake. He does love the lake.

Buck: Look, he-he just needs some time. Okay, you know?

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 7 episode 10: All Fall Down

Eddie look so sad and dejected in this scene. He was probably dreading even thinking about the summer now that his son Christopher was away. I thought it was sweet that Buck asked about Chris while also trying to reassure Eddie that Chris will be back.

Art of the Day: Christopher and Eddie Diaz (9-1-1)

Artwork: Chris and Eddie by chaussettecanape

This was such a heartbreaking scene between Eddie and his son Christopher in the 9-1-1 seventh season finale episode All Fall Down. With Christopher wanting to leave and go with his grandparents back to Texas, Eddie despite not wanting him to go didn't stand in his son's way. But before his son left, Eddie made sure to let Chris know that he loved him.

Video: Eddie and Christopher Diaz (9-1-1 season 7 deleted scene)

I know scenes are cut for time and other reasons but why was this scene of Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and his son Christopher cut from the 9-1-1 episode Ashes, Ashes (season 7 episode 9). This scene adds so much more to Eddie and Chris' story. And the story Eddie is telling Chris about how he met his late wife Shannon (Chris's mom) at the lake also connects to Eddie and Shannon's look-a-like Kim.

In Ashes, Ashes, Eddie went out on lake/boating date with Kim. And just like in his story about Shannon, Kim did all the talking while he mainly listened. Not so surprisingly, Eddie also does the same thing with Evan "Buck" Buckley who is also a very talkative person. Anyway, this deleted scene really added a lot to the story because it also explains the conversation Eddie had with Buck near the end of the season finale episode We All Fall Down. Eddie said that his parents took Christopher to the lake as well as saying that Christopher does love the lake.

This deleted scene could also explain why Christopher after seeing Kim contacted his grandparents Ramon and Helena Diaz and why he was so adamant about going back to Texas. Perhaps, he not only wanted leave but also to go back to the lake to be near his mom. This time away will give him time to sort and understand his anger and emotions about his dad and mom and the look-a-like Kim.

All the connection and additional information aside, I love this deleted scene because it shows how much Eddie loves his son. And how he helped Chris deal with his first heartbreak by comforting him and letting Chris know that he will be okay and that he will find that special someone. Total side note, I'm really surprised Penny stayed with Chris this long after she found out he was seeing other girls back in the seventh season premiere episode Abandon Ships. I love how adorable and silly and affectionate both Eddie and Chris are in this scene and it emphasizes how close the father and son are. Which makes the scene of Chris leaving in the season finale, hurt even more because they went from this to Chris being so mad at his father he wanted to leave.

I'm sure Eddie and Chris will fix their fractured relationship in the eighth season. I just hope the writers will write a really good scene of them reconciling and reconnecting. And that Chris understands that Eddie never meant to hurt him and that Eddie understands why seeing Kim hurt Chris.

Video: Gavin McHugh's favorite memory from 9-1-1's seventh season (+ thoughts on Isabel Diaz)

After watching this video of actor Gavin McHugh (who plays Christopher Diaz) talk about his favorite memory from filming the seventh season of 9-1-1, which was him getting to see all the cast members that he hadn't seen in awhile, which includes actress Ana Mercedes the actress who plays Christopher's great-grandmother Bisabuela Isabel Diaz. I thought this was sweet, however, I found it disappointing that the writers did absolutely nothing with Isabel Diaz during the seventh season. Why was Isabel only there in an unexpected appearance in the episode There Goes the Groom (episode 6) during Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han's hospital wedding?

Yes, it was sweet seeing her with her grandson Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and her great-grandson Christopher. But it was a short and non-speaking appearance. She definitely should have appeared in the season finale All Fall Down (episode 10) when Eddie and Christopher were having problems. Especially since Christopher who was mad at his father called his grandparents Helena and Ramon Diaz. Eddie was blindsided when his parents who traveled from El Paso, TX (which is also where Isabel currently lives after moving back there in the fifth season) unexpectedly arrived.

Christopher had called them and asked if he could go back to Texas. This was such a big issue and with Christopher being mad at his father, he didn't want to even want to talk or listen to Eddie. And since Eddie's parents were manipulative and only there so they could finally take Christopher away from Eddie, they were not there to be helpful and supportive to their own son. Which is why Isabelle should have been there. She could have been there as a voice of reason or provide morale support because Eddie needed someone in his corner. That is aside from Evan "Buck" Buckley, who was there to help Eddie and Chris anyway that he could.

Anyway, I just wish the writers had found a way to have included Isabel in a more effective way in the seventh season. Especially since she could have added more to Eddie and Christopher's story in the finale episode. And not to mention Gavin likes to work with the actress who plays Isabel.

Photo: Ryan Guzman, Oliver Stark and Kenneth Choi

This fun picture of Ryan Guzman, Oliver Stark and Kenneth Choi was posted back in March. It was when Oliver took over the 9-1-1 Instagram account to promote the show's seventh season premiere episode. Total side note, when I look at this picture, it makes me think of members of a former boy band either announcing they are reuniting to go on tour or to release new music.

Video: Ryan Guzman's favorite memory from 9-1-1's seventh season (+ Oliver Stark's video)

It's interesting that actor Ryan Guzman's favorite memory from the seventh season of 9-1-1 is the bachelor party scene. That scene was from the episode There Goes the Groom (episode 6). It was probably one of the few times in the season that his character Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz was able to not worry about anything and just relax and have a good time. Another time he was having a good time was during the basketball scene in the episode Buck, Bothered and Bewildered (episode 4) but that was cut short when his best friend Evan "Buck" Buckley in a jealous rage pushed him so hard Eddie injured his ankle.

So, yeah, Eddie's happy moments were very few because it felt like most of the season he was so stressed out. From issues with Eddie's son Christopher dating multiple girls to his own rushed relationship with his girlfriend Marisol to meeting and hanging out with his late wife Shannon's lookalike Kim to having problems with Christopher. It was a lot which is why I can understand why the bachelor party would be a memorable scene. It was nice to see Eddie having a good time partying with Buck.

Funny enough, Ryan's co-star Oliver Stark who plays Buck sort of hinted at the bachelor party scene being his favorite to film for the seventh season. I also posted that slightly older video below. I like how Buck started out disappointed that the bachelor party he had planned for his soon-to-be brother-in-law Howard "Chimney" Han had turned into a dud. Because not only did Chimney not show up (it was due to at the time unknow circumstances) but also everyone else except for Eddie had left the party. However, these two ended up partying the night away having a good time celebrating Chimney's bachelor party.

The bachelor party scene is such a beloved scene for Buck and Eddie (Buddie) fans that it's pretty cool that the actors also really enjoyed that scene as well.

Photo: Oliver Stark (9-1-1 season 7 behind the scenes)

I like this behind the scenes picture of Oliver Stark from the 9-1-1 episode All Fall Down (season 7 episode 10). Because he's all smiley in this picture while at the end of the scene of the episode, his character Evan "Buck" Buck and the rest of the 118 were in for a rude awakening. They were in shock after realizing that the former horrible Captain Vincent Gerrard has been reinstated at the fire station. So it's a very interesting contrast of behind the scenes versus the scene.

Eddie: Hey, Cap.

Buck: Need a lift?

Bobby: Yeah.

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, Evan "Buck" Buckley and Robert "Bobby" Nash, 9-1-1 season 7 episode 3: Capsized

9-1-1's seventh season might not be one of my favorite seasons but there were some good moments. Such as when Buck and Eddie rescued Bobby and the little boy, Corey. I just love that they found them and were able to save them without any issues or difficulties.

Quote: Eddie and Buck (9-1-1)

Eddie: Right. You know, it's like that thing when you meet somebody, and you just click. You know what I mean?

Buck: I do. I really do.

~ Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, 9-1-1 season 7 episode 4: Buck, Bothered and Bewildered

I just find it so interesting that majority of the episode Buck was trying to get Eddie's attention. So, I don't believe Buck when he said he was trying to get Tommy's attention. Especially since not even Tommy believed it. I truly hope the writers will circle back in the upcoming eigth season to let Buck realize whose attention he was actually trying to get. And that he realized he misplaced his romantic feelings for Eddie on to someone else.

Most Memorable Scene: Buck being told to cook and Eddie's funny expression (9-1-1)

I just love the look on Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz's face after Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash said Evan "Buck" Buckley was cooking in episode Ashes, Ashes (season 7 episode 9). I guess he was surprised that Bobby was actually letting Buck prepare the station house meal. And his expression is just so funny. He was probably remembering back to when Buck burnt the lasagna in episode Ghost of a Second Chance (season 7 episode 7).

Back in the episode Under Pressure (season 2 episode 1), Buck made breakfast for his big sister Maddie and he told her that Bobby was teaching him how to cook. So it must have felt like a huge honor that Bobby now let him cook for the station. Although, Buck was in charge of the meal, he did get help from Henrietta "Hen" Wilson, Eddie and Ravi Panikkar. And in the end, Bobby gave his approval on the meal which made Buck really happy.
