Eddie: I... don't know.
Buck: Does this poor woman know that she is a carbon copy of your dead wife?
Eddie: Hasn't really come up.
Buck: I'm worried about you.
Eddie: Yeah. I'm worried about me, too.

I can kind of see what the Showrunner and writers were attempting to do with this Shannon Diaz lookalike/doppelganger storyline but they failed with the execution. And then didn't follow through with Eddie having an actual conversation with his son Christopher about how Shannon's death is still affecting him. And how seeing Kim, Shannon's lookalike had him spending time with Kim because she reminded him of Shannon. Instead, they had Christopher get angry (although he did misinterpret the situation when he saw Eddie with Kim) and leave with his grandparents to go to El Paso, Texas. This storyline dragged on for most of the eighth season with Eddie and Chris finally reconciling. However, they still never dealt with what caused them to fracture their relationship.
As I mentioned, I can see what they were trying to do with this story by trying to add in some drama. But it was unnecessary and it didn't work and only resulted in dragging down both Eddie and Chris' storyline for the eighth season. Total side note, I love how concerned Buck was for Eddie in this scene. After Buck saw Kim and talked to her, he immediately went over to see Eddie and to find out what was going on. I just love how concerned he was for him.
Anyway, I hope the storylines for this upcoming ninth season will be so much better.
