Merry Christmas!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakkah and Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone's day is just as happy as the Buckley Diaz family celebrating the holiday in the 9-1-1 episode Christmas Spirit (season 3 episode 10).

Merry Christmas to all my Buck and Eddie and Buckley Diaz family fans!

Eddie Diaz's struggle of being sad and missing his son in 9-1-1's eighth season

In last night's 9-1-1 episode Masks (season 8 episode 5) there was this really sad scene of Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz looking at an old picture of him and his son Christopher (pictures posted below). The picture was of their first Halloween after they had moved to Los Angeles. And to add to it was the voiceover of Evan "Buck" Buckley saying how “I can’t imagine anything more painful than going through life alone”. Because at that moment, Eddie was most likely feeling like he truly was alone.

Currently in 9-1-1's eighth season, Eddie and his son Christopher's relationship continues to deteriorate. Eddie is trying to keep communication open by continuing to call his son. However, Chris is still holding on to his anger after seeing Eddie with Kim, who is a look-a-like of Chris' mother and Eddie's late wife Shannon. And since then, he doesn't seem that interested or enthusiastic with talking with his father. It's been shown that Chris will talk to Eddie but their conversations seem to be short and superficial. With all the months Christopher has been gone temporarily living with his grandparents in El Paso nothing seemed to have dimmed his anger towards his dad.

Video: Gavin McHugh's favorite memory from 9-1-1's seventh season (+ thoughts on Isabel Diaz)

After watching this video of actor Gavin McHugh (who plays Christopher Diaz) talk about his favorite memory from filming the seventh season of 9-1-1, which was him getting to see all the cast members that he hadn't seen in awhile, which includes actress Ana Mercedes the actress who plays Christopher's great-grandmother Bisabuela Isabel Diaz. I thought this was sweet, however, I found it disappointing that the writers did absolutely nothing with Isabel Diaz during the seventh season. Why was Isabel only there in an unexpected appearance in the episode There Goes the Groom (episode 6) during Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han's hospital wedding?

Yes, it was sweet seeing her with her grandson Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and her great-grandson Christopher. But it was a short and non-speaking appearance. She definitely should have appeared in the season finale All Fall Down (episode 10) when Eddie and Christopher were having problems. Especially since Christopher who was mad at his father called his grandparents Helena and Ramon Diaz. Eddie was blindsided when his parents who traveled from El Paso, TX (which is also where Isabel currently lives after moving back there in the fifth season) unexpectedly arrived.

Christopher had called them and asked if he could go back to Texas. This was such a big issue and with Christopher being mad at his father, he didn't want to even want to talk or listen to Eddie. And since Eddie's parents were manipulative and only there so they could finally take Christopher away from Eddie, they were not there to be helpful and supportive to their own son. Which is why Isabelle should have been there. She could have been there as a voice of reason or provide morale support because Eddie needed someone in his corner. That is aside from Evan "Buck" Buckley, who was there to help Eddie and Chris anyway that he could.

Anyway, I just wish the writers had found a way to have included Isabel in a more effective way in the seventh season. Especially since she could have added more to Eddie and Christopher's story in the finale episode. And not to mention Gavin likes to work with the actress who plays Isabel.
