If the writers ever remember, it would be interesting to see Eddie finding out just how much Buck did to get him to the hospital just in time. From Buck springing into action (after being in a slight shock) by rolling under the fire truck while the sniper was still shooting to try to rescue Eddie. To Buck's continued screams of “I got you!” even before he finally reached Eddie to Buck pulling him to safety and then loading Eddie into the fire truck. To Buck ripping open Eddie's shirt and starting the process of providing medical assistance. What's interesting is that Buck could have stepped back once he had Eddie on the truck and let the other firefighter who may also have been a paramedic take care of Eddie. But no, he had to be the one to at least start the medical care but other the firefighter did eventually take over. It's just so interesting because throughout this entire incident, Buck was truly Eddie’s lifeline because first he rescued him then made sure he was the first person to start his medical care. That's a lot of intense love that was in that moment.
Which is probably why so many fans have speculated over the years that the shooting should have been the start of Buck and Eddie going canon. It sure felt that way but alas it didn't happen and Eddie and Buck were yet again in relationships with random love interest that unfortunately continued into the fifth season. Buck and Eddie have a connection that none of their love interests can compete with. Which is why I don't understand why the Showrunner and writers just don't see how amazing they would be together in a romantic relationship. Well, I guess only time will tell, if they will ever go canon. I certainly hope so.
