Fandom Thoughts: Buck's disappointing hot air balloon date (9-1-1)

I was thinking about the hot air balloon date that Evan "Buck" Buckley had planned for his then girlfriend Abigail "Abby" Clark back in the 9-1-1 episode Trapped (season 1 episode 9). Unfortunately, Buck and Abby never got to have that date. Because as soon as Abby got there, she had received an urgent phone call from Carla Price, her mom Patricia's nurse and medical aid. Patricia had Alzheimer's and at the particular moment she was having a very bad episode and Abby needed to go home to try to help calm her down. And sadly, Buck and Abby's date was over before it even got a chance to get started. Which meant the hot air balloon ride that Buck had scheduled was cancelled. And to make it even more romantic, he had given her a big bouquet of flowers and onboard the hot air balloon, he had champagne and truffles for them to enjoy. It was never stated in the show but I wonder if cancelling at the last minute meant it was non-refundable.

The reason why I was thinking about this date was that I hope the writers will bring it back. I would love to see Buck plan another surprise hot air balloon date for him and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz. And this time, the date actually goes through. It could be something that happens at the end of the episode, where Eddie shows up to the place where Buck asked him to meet him and is surprised by this big romantic gesture. I think Eddie would fall even more in love with Buck because based on what's been shown throughout the show not one of Eddie's former romantic partners has done anything special for him. I just think this hot air balloon date would be wonderful and if it happens at the end of the episode, the date wouldn't suffer from the 9-1-1 show curse of something always going wrong. They get to have a romantic date and we never get to see anything bad happen during it. This was just something I was thinking about.
