Why did the camera pan over to Eddie after Buck got his award in the 9-1-1 episode Ashes, Ashes?

I still can't get over the camera panned over to Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz when Evan "Buck" Buckley got his award in the 9-1-1 episode Ashes, Ashes (season 7 episode 9). Why? What does this mean? I have a guess but that doesn't mean I'm right.

So, when Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and Howard "Chimney" Han got their awards, their significant others Dr. Karen Wilson and Maddie Buckley were shown. So does this mean, Eddie is going to eventually be Buck's significant other in the near future? Otherwise, then why show him? I just find this all so interesting.
