Video: When Buck first sees Eddie (9-1-1)

I can't get over how Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz was first introduced in 9-1-1's second season premiere episode Under Pressure. It's not only the viewers introduction to Eddie but also Evan "Buck" Buckley's as well. We were seeing Eddie from Buck's point of view and this intro was to not only show the viewers and Buck how attractive Eddie is. But also to show that Buck might see him as competition. That competition was one-sided (Buck's) and ended rather quickly after an emergency call where they had to remove a bomb that was stuck in a guy's leg.

Whether the showrunners and writers want to admit it or not, Eddie was introduced in a classic love interest way. There is an underlying subtext to this intro which is all about sex. From the slow pan of his body as he is putting on his shirt to the music "What a Man" by Salt-N-Pepa playing during the scene. There was no point in introducing Eddie from Buck's point of view in this way unless he was being presented as a future love interest. I truly hope he is because I feel like this show has been building up a potential romance between Eddie and Buck and I just hope the Showrunner and writers will eventually follow through with it.
