Fan Theory about how Buck got the boils in the 9-1-1 episode Masks

There is a growing fan theory about how Buck got all those boils in the 9-1-1 episode Masks (season 8 episode 5). The theory is that his current boyfriend Tommy Kinard gave him Ibuprofen to help for the pain in his shoulder after it was dislocated. Back in the episode In Another Life (season 6 episode 11), after Buck was taken to the hospital after being struck by lightning, Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash told the medical staff that Buck was allergic to Naproxen. And since Ibuprofen is similar to Naproxen, which again Buck is allergic to, it could explain why he broke out in boils.

According to the Mayo Clinic's website page on Ibuprofen, two common side effects are a rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin and itching skin. And rare side effects are: rash, red skin lesions - often with a purple center and redness of skin. And looking at his face and neck, he has a lot of those side effects.

In the episode, Buck took the pills at night and then woke up to a lot boils on his face. However, it didn't seem to cross his mind that the boils were a result of his allergy. Instead, he credited it to a curse after his supposed fake mummy decoration turned out to be a real dead body. My guess is he was distracted by the pain in his shoulder as well as doing online research that he didn't realize what medicine he was given. And despite dating for months, it shows Buck and Tommy haven't really gotten to know each other besides superficially. Because knowing someone is allergic to something is very important, it could mean the difference between life and death. Whether Buck didn't tell Tommy. Or he did tell him but Tommy dismissed the information Buck told him like he usually does with whatever Buck is talking about. Either way, I think the Ibuprofen is the cause of the boils and not the mummy's curse.
