Fandom Thoughts: Buck and Eddie #2: Eddie's reaction to Buck teaming up with Taylor in Treasure Hunt (9-1-1)

I was thinking about the Buck and Eddie scene in the 9-1-1 episode Treasure Hunt (season 4 episode 12), where Eddie wanted to be treasure hunting partners with Buck. It's just that if Eddie and Buck were supposed to be just two platonic best friends then why after Eddie suggested that him and Buck team up to find the treasure, did his reaction not reflect that. His response after Buck said he had already teamed up with Taylor Kelly for the treasure hunt had Eddie looking sad and dejected. Like, why?

Eddie could have easily shrugged off Buck's response and said something like “cool, that's totally fair”. And maybe after that conversation, Eddie could have called his then girlfriend Dr. Ana Flores and asked if she wanted to partner up and try to find the treasure. Then they could have gone up against Buck and Taylor and tried to see if they could beat them to the treasure.

However, that didn't happen. Instead, Eddie looked sad and sort of pouted at Buck. And in return, Buck took one look at him and totally folded. Buck then asked if Eddie wanted to be on his treasure hunting team with Taylor. And Eddie's face afterwards (in the last gif), he just looked so pleased and happy that it worked out and now him and Buck would be treasure hunting partners (even if he had to unfortunately deal with Taylor). I don't know, this was just something I was thinking about.
